Vermont Summer Festival Congratulates 2016 Circuit Champions – August 17, 2016 – The 2016 Vermont Summer Festival enjoyed a successful season and wrapped up by presenting 55 champions in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions.
Vermont Summer Festival Rewards Canadian Competitors – August 16, 2016 – Stephanie Lessard and Alexandra Cantin topped the Canadian Circuit Awards presented at the conclusion of the 2016 Vermont Summer Festival. The Awards are presented to the high-point hunter and jumper champions and reserve champions hailing from Canada.
Jimmy Torano Wins Sir Ruly, Inc. Open Jumper Awards – August 15, 2016 – Jimmy Torano topped the $10,000 Sir Ruly, Inc. Open Jumper Awards at the conclusion of the 2016 Vermont Summer Festival. Torano earned 162 points and collect a $5,000 bonus, presented in honor of his late uncle Raul "Ruly" Torano.
Week 6 - Vermont Summer Celebration
Alexandra Pielet Captures Final Win of the 2016 Vermont Summer Festival – August 14, 2016 – Alexandra Pielet of Highland Park, IL, and Helene VE topped the $10,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, presented by Dr. Robert Barber & Team Barber. Pielet and Helene VE were the fastest double-clear effort in 41.96 seconds to win for owner Co-Pielet, LLC.
Catherine Tyree Tops $50,000 Vermont Summer Celebration Grand Prix – August 13, 2016 – Catherine Tyree riding Don't Go claimed the $50,000 Summer Celebration Grand Prix on Saturday. From a starting field of 25, the pair were one of 12 combinations to jump clear over the first-round track designed by Gerry Briggs of Smyrna, TN.
Sarah Barge Claims $15,000 Hunter Derby at Vermont Summer Festival – August 12, 2016 – Sarah Barge and Danturano won the $15,000 3'3” Hunter Derby, presented by Land Rover Experience. The pair scored 86.5 points in the opening round, and impressed the judges to earn the top score of 88 points in the handy round, giving them an overall total of 174.5 points for the win.
Fourteen-Year-Old Alexandra Pielet Wins $10,000 Theory Welcome Stake – August 11, 2016 – Alexandra Pielet, 14, of Highland Park, IL, and Helene VE won the $10,000 Theory Welcome Stake, presented by Manchester Designer Outlets. Pielet was the youngest one in the class and it was one of the biggest courses she has ever jumped.
Make-A-Wish Children to Experience Vermont Summer Festival – August 10, 2016 – Children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont will attend the Vermont Summer Festival on Saturday, August 13, to experience show jumping and meet grand prix riders and their horses. The Wish Kids will attend the $50,000 Vermont Summer Celebration Grand Prix.
Jumpers and Hunters Thrive in TAKE2 Thoroughbred Divisions – August 9, 2016 – Patricia Hurter of Harvard, MA, was crowned champion of the $1,400 TAKE 2 Thoroughbred Jumper Division during week five of the Vermont Summer Festival. Kristina Watkins of Harvard, MA, accepted the tri-color in the $500 TAKE 2 Thoroughbred Hunter Division.
Week 5 - Manchester & the Mountains Horse Show
Alissa Kinsey Scores $2,500 Marshall & Sterling Adult Jumper Classic Win – August 7, 2016 – Alissa Kinsey of Danville, NH, won the $2,500 Marshall & Sterling Jumper Classic to kick off the final day of week five. Kinsey and her own Capella 37 were the winning pair and notched their fourth adult jumper classic win of the season.
Mark Jungherr Claims $30,000 Manchester & The Mountains Grand Prix – August 6, 2016 – Mark Jungherr and his winning mount Conte Couleur were victorious in the $30,000 Manchester & The Mountains Grand Prix. They were the only pair to jump clear over the fences, but picked up a single fault on the clock to win with a time of 84.56 seconds.
Jimmy Torano and Levland Tops $5,000 Hunter Derby – August 5, 2016 – Jimmy Torano showcased Levland's derby talents and earned a score of 89 points in the first round before impressing the judges in the handy round to score a 92, five points more than his closest rival. With a final score of 181, Torano and Levland claimed the win in this week's Hunter Derby.
Catherine Tyree Wins $10,000 Overland Sheepskin Co. Welcome Stake – August 4, 2016 – Catherine Tyree, 21, of Chicago, IL, and her own Don't Go won the $10,000 Overland Welcome Stake. The pair posted the fastest double clear rounds on the tracks designed by Manuel Esparza of Mexico City, winning in a time of 36.04 seconds.
Equitation Riders Shine at Vermont Summer Festival – August 2, 2016 – Tuesdays offer a opportunity for riders to qualify for year-end equitation finals. The Equitation Tuesday schedule features classes ranging from the THIS Children's Medal, NEHC Junior Hunt Seat Medal, and USEF National Hunter Seat Medal to ASPCA Horsemanship and USEF Talent Search qualifiers.
Week 4 - Valley Classic Horse Show
Brianne Link Claims $10,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic – July 31, 2016 – Seventeen-year-old Brianne Link of Sayville, NY, won the $10,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, presented by Dr. Robert Barber & Team Barber. She was the only rider to jump double-clear over tracks designed by Canada's Michel Vaillancourt.
Colin Syquia Tops $30,000 Mount Equinox Grand Prix – July 30, 2016 – Colin Syquia of Forest Hills, NY, and Adventure E, owned by Eurasia, Inc., won the $30,000 Mount Equinox Grand Prix, presented by Purina Horse Feed. Syquia and Adventure E have been knocking on the door of a grand prix win all season and finally led the victory gallop.
Jennifer Bauersachs Wins Again in $5,000 Hunter Derby – July 29, 2016 – Jennifer Bauersachs of Frenchtown, NJ, rode to her second consecutive $5,000 3'3” NEHJA Hunter Derby. Bauersachs and Overjoyed, owned by Courtney Carey, advanced to the handy round among the top twelve and turned in an impressive performance to take the win.
Ireland's Cormac Hanley Takes Top Call in $10,000 NYDJ Welcome Stake – July 28, 2016 – Nineteen-year-old Cormac Hanley (IRL) and his own Captain Caruso cruised to their first win together in the $10,000 NYDJ Welcome Stake. Hanley and Captain Caruso were the only double-clear pair over tracks set by course designer, Michel Vaillancourt of Canada.
World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Week Draws Top Contenders – July 27, 2016 – Competition during week three was highlighted by World Championship Hunter Rider qualifying opportunities for hunter competitors hoping to make an appearance at the WCHR Finals, held at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, MD.
Week 3 - Manchester Classic Horse Show
Alexandra Pielet Wins $10,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic – July 24, 2016 – Fourteen-year-old Alexandra Pielet of Highland Park, IL, topped the $10,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, presented by Dr. Robert Barber & Team Barber in only her second show at this fence height.
Danielle Torano and Callas III Claim $30,000 Otter Creek Grand Prix – July 23, 2016 – Danielle Torano won the $30,000 Otter Creek Grand Prix, presented by The Equinox, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa aboard Callas III, after settling for second behind her husband Jimmy in Thursday's $10,000 Welcome Stake.
Jennifer Bauersachs Reigns in Week Three $5,000 Hunter Derby – July 22, 2016 – Jennifer Bauersachs of Frenchtown, NJ, and Cleaveland topped a field of 50 horses to win the $5,000 3'3” NEHJA Hunter Derby on July 21 during World Championship Hunter Rider week. Bauersachs earned scores of 87.5 and 88 over innovative courses designed by Doug Russell.
Jimmy Torano Tops $10,000 Vineyard Vines Welcome Stake – July 21, 2016 – Jimmy Torano and his own El Capone claimed the $10,000 Vineyard Vines Welcome Stake, presented by Manchester Designer Outlets. In a husband-wife duel, Jimmy bumped his own wife, Danielle, from the top spot to take the win in the final trip of the class.
Elizabeth Kirby and Reservation Claim Adirondack-Green Mountain Challenge – July 20, 2016 – Elizabeth Kriby of Wellington, FL, and her own Reservation were the ones to beat in the 3'3” Amateur-Owner Hunter Divisions at the Skidmore College Saratoga Classic Horse Shows and the Vermont Summer Festival to bring home the Adirondack-Green Mountain Challenge Trophy.
Week 2 - Manchester Summer Festival Horse Show
Merrill Harvey and Favoriet Win $5,000 NAL Low Jr./A-O Jumper Classic – July 17, 2016 – Eighteen-year-old Merrill Harvey of Huntington, NY, and Favoriet concluded the second week of the Vermont Summer Festival with a win in the $5,000 NAL Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. She ended on top of a 30 horse field.
Jimmy Torano and Day Dream Top $30,000 Battenkill Grand Prix – July 16, 2016 – Jimmy Torano of Wellington, FL, and Day Dream topped a six-horse jump-off to win the $30,000 Battenkill Grand Prix on Saturday. Twenty-three horses made up the original order and jumped courses set by Paul Jewell of Lambertville, NJ.
Sarah Barge and Danturano Clinch $5,000 Hunter Derby – July 15, 2016 – Sarah Barge of Bloomfield, NY, riding Danturano, owned by Sydney Degrazia won the $5,000 3'3” NEHJA Hunter Derby, presented by Eastern Hay, on Thursday, July 14. They were first to enter the derby ring in a 24-horse order and earned a score of 86.
Amanda Flint Still On Top With Second $10,000 Welcome Stake Win – July 14, 2016 – Amanda Flint of Long Valley, NJ, topped the $10,000 New Balance Welcome Stake, aboard VDL Coverboy on Thursday, July 14 during the second week of competition at the Vermont Summer Festival. She bested four double-clear efforts to claim the top spot over a field of 23.
Samantha Schaefer and Katie Tyler Settle into Post-Collegiate Life – July 13, 2016 – For Samantha Schaefer of Westminster, MD, and Katie Tyler of Old Lyme, CT, the weeks they will spend at the Vermont Summer Festival this year are some of their first as college graduates making their way in an industry they love.

Bryn Sadler and Cezarro Win $10,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner High Classic – July 10, 2016 – Bryn Sadler of Sante Fe, NM, and Cezarro capped the first week of the 2016 series with a win in the $10,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner High Classic, presented by Team Barber. She crossed the timers just over three seconds faster than Stephanie Gallucci of Toronto, ON, on Zarate 2.
Amanda Flint and VDL Coverboy Continue Win Streak at Vermont Summer Festival – July 9, 2016 – Following up Thursday's $10,000 Welcome Stake win, Amanda Flint of Long Valley, NJ, and VDL Coverboy captured the $30,000 Vermont Summer Special Grand Prix, presented by Johnson Horse Transportation, on Saturday, July 9.
Sarah Tyndall and Huckleberry Finn Claim $5,000 Hunter Derby – July 8, 2016 – Sarah Tyndall of Acton, MA, rode Huckleberry Finn to top honors in the $5,000 3'3” NEHJA Hunter Derby, presented by Eastern Hay. Tyndall’s combined scores of 83 and 87 saw her finish with a 170 to top a starting field of 37 entries.
Amanda Flint and VDL Coverboy Win $10,000 Welcome Stake in Vermont – July 7, 2016 – Amanda Flint of Long Valley, NJ, won the $10,000 Bass Welcome Stake, presented by Manchester Designer Outlets, aboard VDL Coverboy on Thursday, July 7 during the first week of competition at the Vermont Summer Festival in East Dorset, VT.
