Amy Momrow and Summer Storm Repeat as Champions
in the $10,000 Valley Classic Mini Prix at the Vermont Summer Festival
East Dorset, VT—July 30, 2004
- Owner Shaine Brooks of West Sand Lake, NY and rider Amy
Momrow of Loudonville, NY pulled off a rare feat when their
horse, Summer Storm, jumped to victory in the $10,000 Mini
Prix for the second week in a row. This exciting equestrian
action took place today at the Valley Classic Horse Show at
the Vermont Summer Festival in East Dorset, VT.
Summer Storm, a 7 year-old chestnut gelding, was almost three
seconds faster than his nearest competitor in a time of 35.468
seconds. "The course was really nice, with a few tricky
parts that allowed for some options in turns and lines,"
Momrow commented about the Ken Krome designed course. "All
in all, the course rode well."
Momrow plans to ride Summer Storm this Sunday
in the $35,000 Valley Classic Grand Prix sponsored by the
Equinox Resort and Spa (www.equinox.rockresorts.com).
She will be competing against the Grand Prix victors from
weeks one and two, Jimmy Torano of Key Biscayne, FL, and Angela
Covert-Lawrence of Montreal, Quebec, respectively.
In a strange twist of events, Danielle Torano of Key Biscayne,
FL took second place in the class for the second week in a
row. Mounted on Cavalieri, owned by Sir Ruly, Inc., Torano
stopped the timers in 38.203 seconds. The past two weeks at
both the Manchester Summer Festival and the Manchester Classic,
Torano took the blue ribbon in the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall
of Fame Amateur Owner Jumper Classic. She will be looking
to make it three victories in a row this Sunday, August 1.
Third place in the $10,000 Valley Classic Mini Prix went to
Tracy Bartko-Magness on J'Aime La Vie. The white ribbon for
fourth was awarded to Bill Lowry and Rio Corde.
The blue ribbon in the challenging ASPCA Maclay class went
to Lizzy Dickey on her horse, In Pursuit. Dickey is trained
by Jim Toon. Second place was taken by Michael Delfiandra
on Triblene.
The WIHS Hunter and Jumper Phases as well as the overall title
was won by Nikko Ritter aboard Modoc. Michael Delfiandra on
Alan Korotkin's Triblene placed second in this division also.
The Vermont Summer Festival is New England's largest "AA"
rated hunter/jumper horse show circuit and runs from July
14 to August 15. The Valley Classic is the third show in the
prestigious series. This year's circuit includes five weekly
$35,000 Grand Prix and five $10,000 Mini Prix. Each of the
five weeks will also feature $10,000 Show Jumping Hall Of
Fame High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper classes, part of the
Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series.
For many equestrians, the pinnacles of the show series are
the three top-level classes that take place every Sunday at
the show. The $35,000 Grand Prix sponsored by the Equinox
Resort and Spa, the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Amateur
Owner Jumper Classic, and the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of
Fame Junior Jumper Classic showcase the best American and
international riders competing over challenging jumping courses.
While not watching the exciting jumping action, spectators
will enjoy visiting the Festival's trade fair that contains
interesting boutiques and gift shops. Families will enjoy
the ambiance of the show grounds, as there are over 1,000
horses and ponies to observe.
The Vermont Summer Festival is located right on Route 7 in
East Dorset, VT, just North of Manchester. Admission to the
Vermont Summer Festival is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors,
and $2 for children. For further information about the Vermont
